DIY Activated Charcoal Mask
For Acne and Combination Skin
I have combination skin so at least once a week, I need to detox my skin with a good charcoal or clay mask.
Activated Charcoal is similar to common charcoal, but is made specifically for medicinal use and to be very porous. These pores allow activated charcoal to trap impurities. For this reason, activated charcoal is used to treat poisonings, intestinal gas, nausea, and bile flow issues (cholestasis) during pregnancy. But activated charcoal also works wonders for the skin when applied topically: it keeps skin clear by acting as a magnet to draw dirt out of pores.
Our detoxifying mask is formulated to give your skin a deep cleansing. Made with activated charcoal, french green clay and bentonite clay pulls out toxins in the skin. Organic oils of lavender and tea tree provide anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin. We suggest using this mask at least once a week to detoxify the skin to maintain and promote a clear complexion
My favorite ingredients to use in my activated charcoal mask are bentonite clay, rose hydrosol or rosewater and essential oils. Each ingredient has its own unique properties
Bentonite clay is known for being an excellent detoxing agent and is deeply cleansing and nourishing to the skin.
Rose hydrosol or Rosewater will act as an astringent, clearing your pores, toning your skin, and absorbing excess oil.
Lavender and Tea Tree have antiseptic properties, meaning that they contain chemicals that deter the growth of bacteria and supports acne healing.
