Handmade in small batches in New Orleans, this amazing city, that we are proud to come home, is full of diversity and fun. Natural Mixologist mission is to share our love of botanicals and how we can incorporate them into our skincare products to create something unique, different and meaningful, just like our distinctive city.
Organic essential oils are steam distilled from plants that have been grown under the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standard of organic farming. This means that no toxic and persistent pesticides were used during the plant’s lifespan. The entire process from the ground to the distillation occurs without the use of toxic pesticides, synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, or GMOs. Because of this, organic essential oils are free from harmful toxins that are absorbed by the skin.
Using botanicals in “plant based skincare” can clear up breakouts, protect from sun damage, soothe irritations, and more. For example, Spirulina, also known as “cyanobacteria” contains anti-inflammatory properties and can help slow down the effects of aging as well as detoxify and tone skin. Most ingredients in chemical laced skincare work against the skin, rather than working with, this can lead to breakouts, irritations, redness, and allergic reactions. Most commercial cosmetics contain very little nutrients for the skin. Instead of helping boost the health of your hair, skin or nails they use chemicals to temporarily mask any issues you may have. Organic and Botanical ingredients are often rich in vitamins, anti-oxidants and fatty acids that the skin needs.
Skin is the body’s largest organ. It absorbs about 60-70% of what we feed it with. What we put on our skin makes its way into our blood, tissues and organs, and therefore has an impact on our health just as much as, if not more than what we put in our mouth.
