Krystal Burrell Armstrong
Skincare became officially important to me in 2007 when I made my first skin care product. The products were not made with the intention to start a business (that didn't come until 7 years later) but with the intention to give myself (and eventually others) clear and healthy skin. I have always had a passion for amazing skin - and I knew I had what it took to make that happen.
NM: Krystall, you're a makeup artist and a certified herbalist, how do you merge the two?
I merge the two by utilizing my certification as a herbalist to make great skin care products that I can recommend to my clients. When someone sits in my chair, they are there bare-faced, in their rawest form. This is where I can analyze the skin, ask the right questions and give recommendations/provide solutions to their concerns. Great makeup starts with great skin - being a makeup artist and certified herbalist allows me to provide both.
NM: What does skincare mean to you?
To me, skin care means confidence, self-esteem, self-care. There is not one person in the world, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation, who doesn’t want clear, healthy skin!
NM: Why did you decide to create your own skincare brand?
I've always had a passion for healthy skin. I wanted to know what causes most skin issues such as acne and blemishes and how to solve them while providing my clients with clear skin. I loved it so much, I was giving products away for free for seven years before I decided to make my line a full-time business. Everything happens in its time, it just made sense.
NM: What is your skincare ritual?
Nightly: Oily Skin Package, Rosehip + Chamomile Youth Serum, Silk Milk Anti-Aging Moisturizer Twice a week: Creamy Coffee + Sugar Scrub and some type of mask (usually one of my own).
NM: What are your must-have products?
Besides my own products, the GLOW mask from Natural Mixologist, the Skin Up Tools and Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer, Paula Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid. I also incorporate a monthly MUST HAVE facial.
NM: What have you learned most on this journey of skincare?
There are a LOT of people struggling to get the right regimen for their skin. I just want to provide the world with confidence through healthy skin.
NM: Now that you’re a #skinboss, what would you like to accomplish in the next five years?
Oh I have so many plans for the near future! Just know you will see Andrelle’s in places and ways you wouldn’t think of.
